Pack 862 Bridging Ceremony

On Friday, February 24, 2012, five Webelos from Pack 862 bridged to Troop 719.
Congratulations to Kyle Hashiro, Aydin Kuniyoshi, Jonah Ng, Trevor Robertson, and Cory Saruwatari. We have had brothers in the troop before, and the Saruwataris and the Kuniyoshis, make two more families that will be added to that list.
Welcome Kyle's parents, Carol and Mike, Jonah's parents,Gina and Calvin, and Trevor's parents, Margarita and Sean.
Thanks to Jim, Dean, and Eric, who represented SMC and Committee.
Death Valley National Park Trip

We successfully completed our 670mile trip by arriving safely home today at about 4:30pm. We dodged the bullet by avoided the approaching storm system targeted to for tomorrow.
Thank goodness we all were able to survive the long drive, but we did manage to pack in quite a few "adventures".
Arriving quite late (about 12 midnight) at our first stop, Diaz Lake- we quickly made camp and tried to get some sleep.
We arose early to get a quick start for our travels.
Little Jimmy Hike

We endured a great experience this weekend. With a 30% chance of precipitation- we normally proceed on our hikes as planned; since, as our motto states "be prepared" we should be- for all types of weather conditions and changes. We spend a majority of our time on long term hikes in the High Sierra areas and the weather can turn with a blink of an eye. We saw this first hand. Normally we have seen snow on this trail in the past- but this time the snow covered the entire camp as well. The pictures below show a very pretty setting to set up camp, but this was while the sun was still shining.

2012 Scrip Fundraiser

Orders can be returned to Paris Kariya by Wednesday, February 22nd (at the committee meeting) or emailed back to Paris Kariya at imparisk@yahoo.com. The order will be placed the weekend after the committee meeting so the order will be ready for delivery the following week.
